- A sign of improving US China relations in science and technologyIn Global CommonsJanuary 21, 2022However the MERICS report suggests a bit of cooling for Europe "As the MERICS report notes, academics and companies may put their own short-term needs for publications or profit first, cooperating with China even when it imperils long-term European technological advantage." https://sciencebusiness.net/news/europe-needs-understand-chinese-research-or-risks-being-exploited10
- Global Hydrogen Trade to Meet the 1.5°C Climate Goal: Green Hydrogen Cost and PotentialIn HydrogenJuly 13, 2022Taking a PV LCOE of around Euro25/MWh (Spain) and 55kWh/kg of H2 - plus a factor of 1.2 for capex and water costs gives Euro1.65/kg.$ and Euro are at parity so we could assume dollars. This is the 2022 price for 1kg H2 from a MW-class electrolyser system coupled to Spanish PV. The data by IRENA is often wrong, is too general and far too pessimistic. In other words, it reflects the modus operandi of the IEA when it was dominated by fossil interests. The statement "the higher green cost of H2 compared to fossil fuels" was wobbly in July 2021, it is now plumb wrong.00

- Next Nature Future TravelsIn Lifestyles and the EnvironmentJanuary 27, 2022I find augmented reality more exciting than virtual reality, and this view has nothing to do with the fact that VR glasses immediately make me sick ( :D ) I think that VR is a technology from the 80s, is still extremely little used, although so much potential is there.00

- What if large scale technical interventions fail? What if new technologies developed will not be promising enough? In Climate & GeoengineeringAugust 26, 2022Interesting frame - epistemic failure. Is failure not in the DNA of science? Is falsification of a hypothesis an epistemic success or an epistemic failure? The idea that major risks are associated only with epistemic failures would fly in the face of one of the most successful large scale scientific experiments ever, known as the "Manhattan Project"...0

- What would a world without humans be like?In SandboxFebruary 28, 2022Very interesting. Never thought about humans dying out, rather escaping our earth to leave to another planet. Even long after our existence, we still impact the earth (negatively, damaging it due to our selfish behaviour and infrastructure). But it actually seems to create an environment of recovery and enabling the earth to thrive again. For some reason, perhaps it's the calm voice, it seems peaceful... Really cool website btw! We are actually planning to have a "storytelling section" so that we can discuss and share different future scenarios.10
