- MEET GIUSEPPE, OUR AI CHEF - NOTCOIn General AI·January 14, 2022The company "NotCo" has created an innovative solution to produce plant-based milk ("NotMilk") that replicates the taste and nutritional value of animal milk. To recreate the regular milk texture and taste, the Artificial Intelligence chef Guiseppe analyzes the product structure at the molecular level and reproduces it with plant molecules. "The solution was simple (for us food-loving geniuses, that is); let’s create an algorithm that could learn how to combine an infinite combination of plants to replicate the flavor & texture of animal products - without compromising on taste, feel, or function." - The potential for decarbonising heavy industry ...In Climate & GeoengineeringJanuary 26, 2022As a futurist, I would put similar words together to express my thoughts about the subject, however it would not be a futuristic scenario, because it is happening today. I have been dealing with climate issues since about ten years and always had faith in the leaders who were policy makers, opinion leaders, politicians until very recently. We all know that some of those flew with own jets to Glasgow, some had to give speeches or make promises during the sessions and those words were never meant with honestly. So useless.... This brought me eventually to think that the solutions could only come from the bottom, not from the top. From People, from you, from me and from every single individual in the furthest corner of the planet. It is NOW that we need to demand, be part of the action, and move, move fast and solid... The execution of such action is too critical and valuable to leave to industry leaders and politicians... I am open to hear any comment... pro.s/con.s and more...11

- Sleep: the new frontier of health inequalityIn The Future of Health·January 30, 2022"More recently, research has highlighted the negative impacts that sleep deprivation can have on other areas of our physical and mental health, including obesity and loneliness, both leading risk factors for premature death themselves. In the light of this, might we start to see sleep join free speech and education as a fundamental human right? We don’t get enough sleep as a country, with neuroscientists such as Matthew Walker claiming we're in the midst of a sleep-loss epidemic. Disparities in the amount of shut-eye we get based on gender, ethnicity and occupation are also becoming increasingly apparent, underscoring the need to develop a better understanding of sleep inequalities." - Elections Canada probed how many Canadians have a conspiracy mindsetIn Geopolitical Reconfiguration·December 8, 2021"OTTAWA -- Elections Canada was curious to know how many Canadians believed in conspiracy theories in the lead up to the recent federal vote. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had two years left in his minority mandate in August when he plunged the country into an election while a fourth wave of COVID-19 raged. Protesters opposed to public health measures like masking and mandatory vaccinations staged demonstrations, some of them following Trudeau as he crisscrossed the country, hurling obscenities at him and, at one point, even gravel." - The battle against planned obsolescenceIn Criminal & Lawful Activities ·December 8, 2021"One of the main problems with the current linear economy’s production and consumption model, as opposed to a sustainable circular economy system, is planned obsolescence. Planned or programmed obsolescence refers to the deliberate shortening of a product’s useful life by the manufacturer in order to increase consumption. Planned obsolescence is a serious environmental problem for the planet. Every year, up to 50 million tons of electronic waste are generated, a very high percentage of which – around 85% - is usually discarded randomly, ending up in waste tips in developing countries, creating a risk for the environment and the health of people, animals and plants." - Generation 2030: The Strategic Imperative of Youth Civic and Political EngagementIn Geopolitical Reconfiguration·December 9, 2021"According to a recent poll, young people are deeply concerned about the world they will inherit, want to be more engaged in meeting the development needs of their communities, and are helping to lead democracy or social justice protests in their countries. At the same time, new research shows a large decline in trust and admiration for democratic governance. According to Freedom House, for the first time in decades, authoritarian leaning regimes outnumber democratic leaning ones, with a majority of the world’s population now living in authoritarian leaning countries." - How gendered voice assistants are hurting as they helpIn General AI·December 8, 2021"There’s no shortage of articles lately about how the pandemic has set women back. Since women tend to earn less than men, when the time came to take care of children that could no longer go to school or daycare, women ended up with the job. Working women across the globe were forced to quit their careers to become full-time, stay-at-home moms with all of the caretaking and laundry that comes with it. For a society that hasn’t quite broken out of its mindset around traditional gender roles, seeing women as everyone else’s helpers instead of their own people with their own destinies is par for the course. We even see this reflected in the emerging field of AI voice assistants – all of which sound female."
