In 2040, I would like that the future life will be peaceful and without economic, political or idealogical tensions. People will be caring about nature, will be respectful and caring about the well-being of the society as a whole. Competition in school or work performance won't be promoted but there will be rather an environment that gives the possibility for learning, discovering, stimulating curiosity.
